Tom Moorcroft, DO
Dr. Tom Moorcroft is a global leader in solving complex medical mysteries. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont before attending the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). While at UNECOM, Tom was selected to complete a one-year fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. Tom completed his residency training in Family Medicine at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Dr. Tom is board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. He is a co-founder of Origins Of Health, an Osteopathic wellness center, focused on solving the riddles of chronic illness enabling their patients to regain their health and regain their lives. Dr. Tom specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic tick-borne illness, mold illness and infection-induced autoimmune encephalitis (AE/PANDAS/PANS) in children and adults.
Dr. Tom’s personal and professional medical philosophy focuses on optimizing the body’s self-healing systems in order to achieve optimal health with simple, natural interventions; utilizing more conventional approaches, such as medications, when needed. Each individual is a unique unity of body, mind and spirit. Successful diagnostic and treatment strategies are truly patient-centered and address all three levels. Dr. Tom believes the true source of radiant health is within each of us. His goal is to empower each of his patients to take the steps necessary to get in touch with their inner source of health so they can experience optimal health.
Dr. Tom has spent over a decade working “in the trenches” with some of the sickest, most sensitive patients suffering from chronic Lyme disease and other environmentally acquired illnesses. During this time, he created an efficient and highly effective approach to help improve the health of these patients. His passion is to share this approach with other practitioners so they quickly become more comfortable and more effective at alleviating the suffering of patients with chronic Lyme disease and other environmentally acquired illnesses.
Dr. Tom serves on the Teaching Faculty of the Osteopathic Cranial Academy (OCA). He has been awarded Recognition of Proficiency in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field. Dr. Tom serves on the OCA board of directors as well as on several OCA committees.
Dr. Tom has served on the Board of Directors and continues to serve on several committees of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS). He serves on the ILADS Lyme Fundamentals working group, responsible for creating the ILADS evidence-based Lyme Fundamentals program and presents on the treatment of persistent Lyme disease. He created and presents the section on diagnosis and treatment of Babesia, Bartonella and Borrelia miyamotoi. He has also served on the CT State PANDAS/PANS Advisory Council.
Dr. Tom lectures extensively on Osteopathic philosophy and treatment, Lyme disease and other chronic infections, pediatric tick-borne illnesses, integrative medicine and nutritional approaches to healing.
